Lessons

Barry at Drum

My own teaching and study background is outlined in the Home Page and Biography sections.  It is this experience which has shaped the way I present my own lessons.

I give lessons in all aspects of   Drum Set playing from beginner to advanced.   I put particular emphasis on developing the appropriate technique for each style and level attempted.

Lessons can be weekly, fortnightly or on a casual one-off basis to suit the needs of the individual student.

Owning a drum set is NOT essential in the initial stages of learning.   While it is helpful to practice at a kit once or twice a week, a massive amount of valuable progress can be achieved with a pair of sticks and a good practice pad.

Most beginners want to give it a try for a while before investing in an expensive drum kit and I offer a course of lessons designed especially for this type of student.

Included on this website are sample Elementary lessons, with examples in written, illustrated, and low resolution video format.

There is also study material of a more advanced level  (eg Stick Control, Accent Technique, Moeller Method).  This section is a work in progress and will be added to at regular intervals.

I also have the facilities to do distance learning by DVD mail.

DVDs available:-

"Drum Set Performance in Secondary Schools" and "Hand Technique for Drum Set Players". (E-mail me for purchase details).

Please give me feedback on your particular topics of interest and I’ll try and include them in future articles.
